“You’ve got all these monumental structures that are clouds – this one is called Colossus because it’s about being in the presence of something so awe-inspiring, so great that it humbles you. I try and use as natural a pigment as possible. All the paints I use are from Michael Harding, and made in Britain – I’m trying to reduce air miles in my paintings, that’s something I’m conscious of. It’s really about getting that transition where the horizon disappears and you can’t tell where the sea begins, the sky starts – that really fascinates me.” Jack Davis
