Finding Space to Dream, 2022

“When Alicia saw this painting, it was on loose canvas on the floor and she asked that I have it put onto a frame. I worked it so hard – lots of ochres and darker colours, then reworking over it with blues and greens. But it wasn’t until it was put onto the stretcher that I was able to see something that Alicia had seen. It’s a personal painting because the title refers to making space for myself with two young children. The space comes within the painting.” – Francesca Owen
