A single moment of the sunset lights the clouds to vivid pinks and corals, the energy of the brushstrokes creating dynamic movement across the cloudscape which contrasts in the brushstrokes conveying the gentle water of the estuary mouth. In a second, the light will have shifted and the cooler tones, which are already creeping into the edges of the painting, will have advanced, but Alex forever suspends this instance of rosy and enveloping light in breathless splendour.
